How did you wire the light's? Gauge of wire? , relay , or solenoid. Look's like you have other problems. The dimming problem might be a lack of wire size (gauge) the lights need AMP's. What type of hella's are you running?

Well... the alternator charges the battery. So if the alternator was good, the battery shouldn't be discharged. Does it have any trouble turning the engine over to start it?

But if they meant its fluid levels were low, then you'll need to top them up with distilled water (or whatever it is these days). Or get a sealed lead acid battery like an Optima or Braille or whatever, and forget about it completely.

From your pics look's like you have a bonding problems (ground) I remeber you said you live in a wet area? And this started with the install from the light's correct? if so install a Optima,Clean all the corrsion and paint where needed, Check all your ground's repair has needed. The flow of electrons runs threw the ground 1st not threw the + side. And use storage oil (spray can) all over the engine. And use dielectric grease on every connection. If you need any diagrams on how too wire the light let me no I can hook you up.Or IM Baja design for a diagram and proper gauge size........Anyways have fun hope this has not hurt your harness:(

...anyways, ideas anyone?
sounds like bad grounds to me. clean them, see what improves.
