I'm wondering if anybody has ever pulled this off?
I have a bare-bones 2002 TS with no cruise - I'd love to install some type of cruse control, factory, aftermarket - I don't care. I've done some searching, and I can't find a thread anywhere where someone has actually retro-fitted any type of cruise control into a bugeye that came without it. I spend a lot of time on the interstate, and I'm starting to think a brick is my best option.... Thanks! |

There shouldn't be any retrofitting involved. I imagine you would just need to get the parts and add a couple pins to the ecu plugs. Or there may already be a plug there for it, I don't remember. My TS doesn't have cruise either.

TS was what the brighton was to the legacy.
I have never tried this but in theory its just bolt on. When I was helping my friend swap a TS engine to his RS (both 03) the ECU looked to be the same. If its disabled due to software I do not know though. |

working on it slowly. its just a bolt in cruise control actuator and mounting bracket under the hood, a electronic cruise module under the dash, and the selector knob on the steering wheel. iirc the wiring harness is already set up for the selector knob to under the dash. i just popped off the cover and air bag to take a look...i'm waiting for another car to show up at pick n pull before i can get the parts to continue. I definitely have to run the wiring from the control module to the actuator though.
wiring diagrams are here. http://ken-gilbert.com/impreza-manuals |
