I'm sure you said this before, but I'm just not seeing it anywhere...

Does this setup "seal" to the hood with some sort of gasket, or is there an air gap between the intake and the hood?

Brady,
There is a gap between hood and intake to allow any water to drop that might come in contact with the filter.
We are taking orders on these right now. Once we have 10 filled we will begin production.

cool, a back to back comparison to stock will definitely do a lot to encourage sales, looking forward to it

In Chicago it was 74* today and in stop-n-go traffic and suburban traffic light to traffic light driving the Intake Air Temperature never went above 105* when stopped at a light or in traffic. Once I got up to 30 to 40 mph, it would settle at 98* (a video I'll post shows that). I don't know how humidity will affect it just yet but I'll report that when I can.

I don't have a temperature gun but heat soak is something that I'd like to measure. We contemplated the finish of the product - anodize or powder coat. I like anodizing its simply the better finish, but it is more expensive. We ended up settling on powder coating because this part is not a moveable part and is not subject to being hit so the extra protection the anodizing offers is needed in that respect. Additionally, when I read up on the two finishes, I learned that powder coating offers a little better insulating properties that powder coating does. So, this, ultimately, made the decision. The coating will help reduce heat soak and reduce the likelihood the intake box becomes "involved" in some electrical issue - like some thing that would promote an arch if there was an exposed wire under the hood (like the bare or anodized aluminum might).

Are there plans for a comparison to the stock intake on a dyno?

This product is amazing. I registered here just to show my interest. Many people on the 2.5 RS.com site are very interested in the Gravel Sport style intake for the N/A 2.5 RS. I being one of them. I came here by way of a Google search, but I'm glad I stumbled onto your fine community here.

A few questions:

1. Will the filter size be standard so you can drop in a K&N?
2. Can I link this thread to the folks at 2.5 RS.com?

I would be very interested in this intake. However I've heard so much conflicting comments about the Gravel Sport style filter, I too would like to see the dyno report when you get it done before I fully commit.

Thank you very much for your interest!
1. yes, the filter size is stock so a K&N will work
2. I do not see why there would be a problem with linking this page on another site.

We should have some dyno numbers in the next week or so to show the increase in performance. It is a very nice piece. Hand made in the U.S.A.

It IS a nice piece. I especially liked how you removed the air loop tube of the Gravel Sport design and went for a more direct hookup right into the intake manifold. Brilliant!

My heart tells me that for MAP, there's no need for specific intake diameter's and other restrictions as far as ECU tuning is concerned. So this should be a great performing intake. Can't wait for those numbers!

I told the boys at 2.5'er about this. I'm all about supporting made in the U.S.A

Thanks.

You may be waiting a while... these are currently MAP only.

Although I'll be right there with you if they get a MAF version going.
