Which ones, the "budget" / clubman RS&SP's or the real deal?

Thanks for taking the time to put in your $.02, i know you're usually too busy trying to keep us guys on the stages to actually stay on top of message forums, etc. Hope all is well!

He took the same set of doubles over, and over, and over, then went BIG to clear them.. On the landing, at full droop, upon compression, the rear struts side loaded in the housing, catching the front of the rear wheels on the 2nd double with the weight of the car. No matter what type of rally suspension, or how much you spend on it, it will FAIL on that kind of impact. Something has got to give.. The strut insert is supposed to cycle up and down in the body/bushings. As long as your landings are smooth(ish), you should be fine. We flew the Sentra (2900lbs) 80+mph, 6-7' off the ground, and about 80-90' long.. It was harsh, (tabletop to flat) but the struts still worked. iirc, when you bent your first JVAB ears (not insert), that was your first gravel event on them with no big jumps..
Actually I bent my first JVAB strut @ gorman, on 2 very big jumps. there's a video of Louie taking them on here somewhere.. my first landing was pretty much on the take off of the 2nd jump (similar situation as what happened to Leelyn)

At the time I was 48.6 seconds ahead of Aaron , after 5 stages (about 20 stage miles) I had inherited 3rd OA after burke had to withdraw with a transmission failure. Honestly I was overly excited about the potential
podium finish and went all red haze, Flat over everything... AAron used a much smarter strategy and beat me (well deserved) I tried catching him after repairs were made, but i couldn't. flow chart

I wasn't trying say JVABs stuff is any better than yours, IMO yours or his stuff kicks ass, And I'm also certain I could bend either or with my driving style at times.

I am highly amazed with your service time and ability to make sure your clients have 4 good corners for events. Your clients have had coilovers over nighted to make events ..... and 6 weeks after Gorman I ran Prescott with 1 Ksport in the rear after my Gorman damage. Maybe I need a set of coilovers from both venders to ensure my car is in tip top shape all the time.
? or just some 50mm rears since I'm a little too good at bending the 40's (I had actually bent the ears on my other coilover at gorman, but didn't notice )

I really like Barrett and have referred quite a few Subaru local guys to him for some builds. However...
Disassembled a set at (that took 9 months from payment to receipt of struts in the first place) the other night in preparation to send them to JVAB for repair and evaluation. Top pins had been stripped and retapped and a taller nut used. Rears at least weren't stripped. At static/stock ride height the front had 5" of droop and were sitting 1" into the bump stop. Rear at static ride height had only 2" of droop. Oddly the front and rear struts were identical in length, something I've never seen. This was the first disassembly of these and they have one rally, 100AW, on them.
I think I'll go back to sending everyone to JVAB. Yeah, he's a character and not everyone will get along with him.

Grant,

Why don't you let me handle my client's concerns directly instead of getting a 3rd, unrelated, party involved?? I have, and always will do my best to address any customer concerns directly. Too many cooks spoil the soup.. Have a feeling that another 3rd party may have sent him that direction.

He and I have talked about this, and they were supposed to come back to get repaired for no charge. It's unfortunate that I found out on a public forum from your post, and not from him directly.. Pretty weak actually. That's not how things get dealt with appropriately. Client>vendor contact works better.

At any rate, the offer still stands for him to get them shipped and repaired for no charge.

I won't try to justify why he chose to send them to John instead of to you. However, he's codriven with me and spent time in Dave's BMW Compact, both being on JVAB struts, and is well aware that your product is a replica of the JVAB stuff and uses similar Bilstein inserts so would be equipped to help him resolve issues.

not sure what their main language is but they should probably look up what "endurable rally suspension" means.
